Summary
Mr. Kenneth Shanny, with an address at Hallstown, Ratoath, Co. Meath, pleaded guilty to the following offences under Section 1078 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997:
- Aiding, abetting, assisting, inciting or inducing other persons to make or deliver incorrect VAT returns (4 counts), and
- Aiding, abetting, counselling and procuring another person to claim repayments of VAT to which he was not entitled (4 counts).
Outcome
Judge O’Shea sentenced Mr. Shanny to 3 years imprisonment on each count, to run concurrently, with the final 18 months suspended and required Mr. Shanny to enter into a bond of €200 to be of good behavior for 18 months after his release.
