Summary

Benny Lau with an address at Duffs Farm, Coast Road, Termonfeckin, Co Louth. pleaded guilty to the following offences under Section 1078 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997:

  • Consenting or conniving with Kingsland Chinese Restaurant Ltd (of which he was a director and now in Liquidation) to knowingly or wilfully deliver an incorrect return for VAT for the taxable period 1 March 2008 to 28 February 2009.
  • Consenting or conniving with Kingsland Chinese Restaurant Ltd (of which he was a director and now in liquidation) to knowingly or wilfully deliver an incorrect P35 return for the year ended 31 December 2008.

Outcome

On 21 October 2015, at Dundalk Circuit Court, Judge O’Shea sentenced Mr Lau to two and a half years imprisonment for each count to be served concurrently. He however suspended 6 months of the sentence.
