Summary

Hugh Mockler, aged 54, with an address at Windward, Fennell’s Bay, Myrtleville, Co Cork was charged with the following offences under section 1078 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997:

  • Consenting or conniving with HM Yachts Limited (in Liquidation), to knowingly or wilfully deliver incorrect VAT Returns in respect of 15 bi-monthly periods between March/April 2008 and July/August 2010. Mr Mockler was a director of that company at the time.

Outcome

On 3 February 2015, Mr Mockler was arraigned at Cork Circuit Criminal Court and entered guilty pleas in respect of the 15 charges.

On 29 April 2015 Judge Ó’Donnabháin sentenced Mr Mockler to two years in prison, which was suspended on condition that Mr Mockler be of good behavior for a period of two years.
