Summary

Joseph Kenny with an address of Mayberry, Roskelton, Mountrath, Co Laois pleaded guilty to 15 charges on a full facts basis (as per agreement with D.P.P) to the following offences under Section 1078 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997:

  • 62 counts of claiming a relief from income tax, being a relief to which to his knowledge he was not entitled, contrary to Section 1078 (2)(c) and (3) of the Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997.

Outcome

On the 4 March 2016 at Portlaoise Circuit Court, Judge Johnson sentenced Joseph Kenny to 2 years and 5 months in prison suspended for 5 years on condition that the tax was repaid in accordance with a payment plan submitted to the Court. Mr Kenny was also sentenced to 240 hours community service.
