• Evasion of excise duty on excisable products with intent to defraud either directly or indirectly the State of such duty contrary to Section 119(2) and (3) of the Finance Act, 2001, as amended by Section 138 of the Finance Act 2002, Section 82 of the Finance Act 2006, Section 77 of the Finance Act, 2008 and by Section 99 of the Finance Act, 2010.

Outcome

On 18 March 2016 in Dublin Circuit Court, Judge Greally sentenced Denis Botezatu to 12 months imprisonment with 6 months suspended, backdated to 19 December 2015. He was instructed to leave Ireland within 7 days of release and not return to the country fro 10 years. A bond of €100 was entered.
