Summary
Mr Patrick Mahony, with an address at 3, Cregaun, Tobar Taoscasin, Ennis, Co Clare, pleaded guilty on 3rd November 2015 to five charges relating to offences under Section 1078 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997, as follows:
- Knowingly or wilfully delivering incorrect VAT returns for the periods January/February 2006, November/December 2006 and November /December 2007
- Failure to furnish a true and correct VAT return for the period January/February 2008
- Failed to remit PAYE/PRSI for the Tax year 2006.
Outcome
On 25 April 2017 at Ennis Circuit Court, Judge Keys imposed a 3 year sentence on Mr Mahony but suspended the entirety of the sentence for a period of 3 years from the date of sentence on condition that he not commit any offence during that period and continue in employment. Judge Keys also fined Mr Mahony €10,000.
