Summary

Mr John McMahon, with an address at 22 South Park, Foxrock, Dublin 18, pleaded guilty to the following offences under Section 1078 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997:

  • Failing to remit VAT in respect of January/February 2006, July/August 2006, September/October 2007, November/December 2008 and January/February 2010 (5 counts)
  • Failing to deliver a VAT return in respect of January/February 2007, March/April 2008, May/June 2010 and November/December 2010 (4 counts)

Outcome

On 28 March 2017, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Nolan sentenced Mr McMahon to two years imprisonment in respect of each of the charges, to run concurrently, with the final 18 months suspended. Mr McMahon was also ordered to pay a bond of €100 to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for a period of 18 months.
