Summary
At Dundalk Circuit Criminal Court on 06 May 2022, Judge O’Malley Costello sentenced Mary Fox, a hairdresser, of Ballymakenny, Drogheda, County Louth.
Ms Fox had previously pleaded guilty to knowingly or wilfully delivering incorrect Income Tax and VAT Returns to the Collector General, contrary to Section 1078(2)(a) of the Taxes Consolidation Act, 1997 in respect of the following sample offences with 4 other offences taken into account.
- 3 counts of knowingly delivering an incorrect Income Tax Return in respect of the tax years 2009, 2011 and 2013.
- 3 counts of knowingly delivering an incorrect VAT Return in respect of the years ended 30 June 2010, 2012 and 2014.
Outcome
On 06 May 2022 Judge O’Malley Costello sentenced the said accused, Mary Fox, to one year’s imprisonment in respect of the Income Tax offences suspended in full for a period of one year and 240 hours community service under Probation Service supervision within one year of this date in lieu of one-year’s imprisonment in respect of the VAT offences. All sentences to run concurrently.
