Customs controls when exporting commercial goods in baggage

You will need an export declaration if:

  • you have commercial goods contained in your baggage
  • and
  • these commercial goods are to be exported to a country outside the European Union (EU).

The declaration must be completed in the Member State where the export movement started.

The export declaration must be accompanied by any other export documents that may be required. For example, an export licence may be required if the goods are restricted.

Where a customs declaration is required, you may wish to avail of the services of a customs clearance agent to deal with the formalities. Customs clearance agents will charge for this service.
