A new 6% rate of Stamp Duty on properties with a value over €1.5 million will apply to the conveyance or transfer on a sale of residential property or a long lease of residential property, where the deed is executed on or after the 2nd of October 2024.


S31E – Stamp Duty on certain acquisitions of residential property, has increased to a higher rate of 15% on instruments executed on or after the 2nd of October 2024.


Transitional arrangements apply in respect of both rate changes. Please contact the Stamp Duty Office for details on transitional arrangements through MyEnquiries.


Revenue are currently updating the e-Stamping application to reflect the rate changes. You will be able to file a return. Where the new rates changes apply to the return filed, you will be contacted to amend the return and additional Stamp Duty may be payable.
