When and how the information is exchanged
Data for the purposes of Council Directive 2011/16/EU (DAC1) was first exchanged in June 2016. This was in respect of taxable periods starting on, or after, 01 January 2014. Revenue continues to make annual exchanges in June of data relating to the previous taxable period. For example, information relating to tax returns filed in respect of 2021 is exchanged in June 2023.
DAC1 information is exchanged directly with the taxpayer's European Union Member State of residence.
