Digital reporting
ViDA reporting requirements
The European Union's (EU's) VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) initiative introduces eInvoicing and digital reporting for intra-EU cross-border business to business (B2B) transactions from 1 July 2030.
The key elements of digital reporting for ViDA are:
- Suppliers must issue structured eInvoices within 10 days of a transaction
- and
- report a subset of the eInvoice data to their national tax authority at the same time that the eInvoice is sent.
Customers must report the receipt of an eInvoice within 5 days of receiving it.
The introduction of ViDA will replace the periodic summary or monthly VIES (VAT Information Exchange System) returns for intra-EU trade.
On 1 July 2030 the near real-time digital reporting will take effect for cross-border EU B2B transactions for both suppliers and customers. To avail of the 0% VAT treatment for intra‑EU supplies after 1 July 2030, businesses are required to comply with these obligations.
