Revenue seizes cash at Dublin Airport

Officers from Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Airport today, (26/10/12), seized €23,500 when they stopped and searched a woman.

The 40 year-old woman from Thailand was stopped and searched during a routine cash-dog operation as she was about to board a flight to Amsterdam en-route to Bangkok.

Revenue's sniffer dog, Carby, gave an indication and the cash was discovered concealed in her carry-on baggage.

The cash was seized by Revenue in accordance with Section 38, Criminal Justice Act 1994 as amended by Section 20, Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Act 2005.

In Dublin District Court (CCJ) this morning, (26/10/12), officers were granted a three month detention order, in respect of the cash, by Judge Brian Smith in order to carry out further investigations.
