Revenue seizes alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco at Dublin Port

Today (08/11/17), in a routine operation, Revenue officers at Dublin Port seized 278 litres of alcohol, 1,820 cigarettes and 1kg of tobacco. The smuggled goods, which have a total value of €4,759, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €3,040, were discovered concealed within a Latvian registered van and a Polish registered truck that disembarked a ferry from Holyhead. The van was driven by a Latvian man in his 40s and the truck was driven by a Polish man in his 30s.

These seizures are part of Revenue's on going operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and alcohol in the shadow economy.
