Revenue seize over 234,000 cigarettes in Dublin Airport

Yesterday (05/12/2019), as part of routine profiling, Revenue officers in Dublin Airport seized 234,600 cigarettes.

The cigarettes branded ‘Benson & Hedges’ were found concealed in 17 boxes described as ‘metal transistors’ which had arrived via Amsterdam on a flight from China. The cigarettes had an approximate value of €126,000 and represent a loss to the Exchequer of €110,000.

Investigations are ongoing.

These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of tobacco products in the shadow economy.
