Revenue seize drugs worth €34,000 in Galway

Today (06/09/2021), as part of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized 1.7 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of approximately €34,000, following a search, under warrant, of a premises in the Headford Road area of Galway City.

The seizure was made as a result of a multi-agency operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit.

A man in his thirties was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at North Western Regional HQ, Galway. Investigations are ongoing.

This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
