Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth €1.94 million in Meath
Yesterday (17/11/2021), as part of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized 97 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.94 million. The illegal drugs were discovered when a premises was searched under warrant in County Meath.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Meath Divisional Drugs Unit.
Two men, one in his 50s and the other in his 60s, were arrested by An Garda Síochána in connection with this seizure. Both are currently detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Ashbourne Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
