Today (28/03/2022), as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers seized over 2.15 kgs of cocaine at Dublin Airport. The illegal drugs, which have an estimated value of €150,000, were discovered when Revenue officers stopped and searched the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight from Paris, France.
A woman in her 20s was arrested by An Garda Siochana and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Ballymun Garda Station.
Separately, over the course of last weekend as a result two separate operations, Revenue officers seized over 2,800 litres of various types of alcohol at Rosslare Europort.
The smuggled alcohol, which included Wine, Limoncello and Sambuca, has a combined retail value of approximately €24,300, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of more than €15,600. The alcohol was discovered following the search of two vehicles and an unaccompanied trailer that had disembarked ferries from Cherbourg, France on 26 and 24 March respectively.
Investigations into these seizures are ongoing.
