Revenue seize tobacco worth over €1.1 million at Dublin Port
Today (18/10/2022), as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers seized 1.5 tonnes of ‘roll your own’ tobacco at Dublin Port. The seized tobacco had an estimated retail value of more than €1.1 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €870,000.
The illicit tobacco, branded ‘Flandria’ and bearing a Luxembourg tax stamp, was discovered with the assistance of detector dog Waffle, when officers searched a consignment that arrived into Dublin Port from the Netherlands.
Investigations are ongoing.
