Revenue seize over 10kgs of herbal cannabis in Tallaght and Roscommon

Last Friday (21/04/2023), as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 5.74kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of almost €115,000 in Tallaght, Dublin. This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Tallaght District Drugs Unit.

A man in his 30s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda Station in south Dublin.

Separately, on Thursday (20/04/2023), as a result of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 4.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €90,000 in Roscommon. This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Roscommon Divisional Drugs Unit.

A man in his 30s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and detained at a Garda Station in Co. Roscommon. This man was subsequently charged and brought before Castlerea District Courton Friday (21/04/2023).

Investigations into both seizures are ongoing.
