Revenue seize over 159,000 cigarettes in south Dublin

Last Friday (03/05/2024), as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized over 159,000 cigarettes at a business premises in south Dublin.

The smuggled cigarettes, branded 'Dunhill' and 'Karelia', have an estimated value of approximately €133,600, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €105,000. 

A man in his 30s has been questioned and investigations are ongoing. 

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in the shadow economy. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
