Revenue seize contraband worth €355,000 in various operations

Over the past week, commencing 28/04/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of €355,000 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare Europort and Tipperary.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • over 5.4kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €108,600,
  • over 5,200 mixed tablets, with an estimated value of almost €10,300,
  • cash to the value of €42,750, and
  • 561 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of €178,000.

The herbal cannabis and mixed tablets, together various other illicit drugs with a value of €1,350,  were discovered, with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara and Enzo, whilst Revenue officers were examining parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands. The parcels originated from France, India, the Netherlands and the UK, and were destined for addresses nationwide. 10 weapons were also seized in the Midlands.

The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights.

Separately, tobacco and alcohol products with an estimated value of almost €14,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €10,400, were seized in various operations in the Midlands, Tipperary, and Wexford.

During the operation in Tipperary, Revenue officers detained cash to the value of €42,750 during the search of a property under warrant. On Friday, (02/05/2025) Revenue officers were granted a 3 month detention order, in respect of this cash, by Judge Brian O’Shea at Clonmel District Court.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
