Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth €1,502,000 at Dublin Airport in two operations

On Sunday 6 July 2025, as a result of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized 52 kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €1,040,000 at Dublin Airport. The cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages within the baggage of two passengers who had disembarked a flight originating from the USA.

A male in his 30s and a female in her 40s, were subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána in relation to the seizure and have since appeared before the Courts.

The following day, Monday, 7 July 2025, following an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers made a separate seizure of approximately 23 kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €462,000 at Dublin Airport. 

Following an indication by drug detection dog, Jack, the cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight originating from Thailand.  

A male in his 30s was subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána in relation to the seizure and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Dublin Garda station.

Investigations into both seizures are ongoing.

These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
