Revenue seize contraband worth over €263,350 in various operations
Over the week commencing 29/09/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €263,350 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare Europort, and Waterford.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- 6.47kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of almost €127,200.
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €77,400, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €60,800.
- Over 390g of Butane Honey Oil, with an estimated value of over €7,800.
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €1,750.
- 125 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €49,200.
Included in the tobacco products are over 69,000 cigarettes, along with 5.75 kg of tobacco and a quantity of cigars which were discovered during a search of a market in North County Dublin on Sunday, 05/10/2025. The contraband had an estimated retail value of over €67,400, with a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €53,100. Investigations are ongoing.
The herbal cannabis seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Milo. The parcels, which originated from Spain, the US, Canada, the Czech Republic, Bilbao and Thailand, were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Forty-two weapons were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
