Revenue seize contraband worth almost €693,900 in various operations
Over the past week, commencing 03/11/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of almost €693,900 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- 11.65 kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €228,000.
- 513g of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €3,000.
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of almost €5,000.
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €1,700, and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,300.
- Over 79,550 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of almost €317,400, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €148,700.
- 175 counterfeit items with an estimated value of almost €138,800.
Included in the alcohol seizure is approximately 79,520 litres of beer which were seized in three consignments at Rosslare Europort. The beer was seized following routine profiling aimed at identifying alcohol products that may be diverted onto the market without payment of the tax due. The alcohol arrived in three accompanied trailers that had disembarked ferries from France. Following an investigation, all three trailers and the alcohol products were seized. Investigations are ongoing.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Six weapons and accessories were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
