Revenue seize contraband worth over €724,200 in various operations

Over the week commencing 22/12/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €724,200 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, Shannon Airport, and Rosslare Europort. The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • 21.1 kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €423,690.
  • 10 kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €71,838.
  • 0.5 kg of magic mushrooms, with an estimated value of over €10,825.
  • Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €3,425.
  • 145 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €203,275.
  • Tobacco products, with an estimated value of almost €280, and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €210.
  • 45 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of almost €670, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €370.
  • 290 weapons, with an estimated value of over €2,550.
  • £5,260 sterling and €1,740 euro in cash.

Included in the herbal cannabis seizures was a seizure of 14kg of herbal cannabis worth €280,000 at Shannon Airport. The seizure was the result of routine profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Brody and Gus. The illicit drugs were discovered in shipments originating from the USA.

The other herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling.  The parcels originated from Canada, the UK and the USA, and were destined for various addresses nationwide. The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Two hundred and ninety weapons were also seized.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
