Revenue seize 13 million cigarettes at Dublin Port
On Friday 02/01/2026, Revenue officers seized approximately 13 million cigarettes at Dublin Port.
The seizure was made following routine risk profiling, with the assistance of Revenue’s mobile X-ray scanner and detector dog Kobe. The contraband was uncovered during an examination of a container that had arrived via Rotterdam, which had been manifested as furniture.
The smuggled cigarettes, branded ‘Excellence’, have an estimated value of €12.3 million and represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of €9.6 million.
Investigations are ongoing.
