Revenue seize contraband worth over €149,000 in various operations

Over the week commencing 26/01/2026, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €149,000 in various operations in Dublin, Kilkenny, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • 3.5kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €21,550.
  • 0.6kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €12,700.
  • 0.8kg of butane honey oil, with an estimated value of over €15,000.
  • Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €1,975.
  • Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €8,290 and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €6,270.
  • Over 229 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of over €2,400 representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €1,325.
  • 97 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €87,000.

The herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with the assistance of detector dogs Sam and Ciara. The parcels originated in the USA, the UK, Canada, Thailand, Spain and Portugal, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.

The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Two weapon accessories were also seized.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
