Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth over €3.1 million in various operations at Dublin Airport
Over the course of six days, commencing 18/04/2026, Revenue officers at Dublin Airport have seized over 160 kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €3.1 million.
On Saturday, 18/04/2026, as a result of routine operations, Revenue officers seized approximately 35.2 kg of herbal cannabis. The illicit drugs were discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages within the baggage of a female passenger, aged in her 30s, who had disembarked a flight originating from Doha.
On Tuesday, 21/04/2026, as a result of routine operations and with the assistance of Revenue detector dog Charlie, Revenue officers seized approximately 68.2 kg of herbal cannabis. The cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages within the baggage of two male passengers, aged in their 20s and 40s, who had disembarked a flight originating from Bangkok, via Doha.
On Wednesday, 22/04/2026, as a result of routine operations, Revenue officers seized approximately 35.2 kg of herbal cannabis. The illicit drugs were discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages within the baggage of a female, aged in her 30s, who had disembarked a flight originating from Doha.
On Thursday, 22/04/2026, with the assistance of Revenue detector dog Dara, Revenue officers search the baggage of a male passenger, aged in his 20s, who had travelled from Thailand. During a search of the baggage, approximately 21.9 kg of herbal cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages.
All the passengers involved were subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 and have since been charged.
A spokesperson from Revenue stated: “These back-to-back seizures highlight the vigilance and professionalism of our officers. We remain committed to protecting the public and disrupting criminal activity at every opportunity.”
Investigations are continuing.
These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
