Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth over €580,000 at Shannon Airport

On Monday 11/05/2026, as a result of routine operations, Revenue officers at Shannon Airport seized approximately 29 kg of herbal cannabis. The illicit drugs have an estimated value of over €580,000. The cannabis was discovered concealed within the baggage of two passengers, who had disembarked a flight originating from Thailand.  

One female and one male were subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána and are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda Station in Co. Clare.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
