Revenue seize contraband worth over €246,000 in various operations

Over the week commencing 15/06/2026, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €246,000 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort. The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • Over 25,130 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of over €101,400, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €47,700.
  • 4.8 kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €95,400, 90 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of €27,600.
  • Tobacco products, with an estimated value of €11,200, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €8,600.
  • 2,777 various tablets, with an estimated value of over €5,500.
  • Various illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €4,500.

The illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with assistance of detector dogs Ciara, Mollaidh and Sam. The parcels originated from India, the UK, France, Canada and the USA, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.

Included in the alcohol seizures was approximately 25,056 litres of alcohol seized at Rosslare Europort on 17 June 2026 as a result of routine profiling. The alcohol, branded Karpackie and Kestrel, has an estimated retail value of over €99,900 and represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of more than €46,700. The alcohol was discovered in an accompanied trailer that had disembarked a ferry from Dunkirk, France. Both the alcohol and the trailer were seized. Investigations are ongoing.

The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Eight weapons accessories were also seized.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
