Revenue seize 12 million cigarettes at Dublin Port
On 03/09/2026, Revenue officers seized approximately 12 million cigarettes at Dublin Port.
The seizure was made following routine risk profiling. The contraband was discovered in a consignment declared as mattresses, following a search of a trailer that had arrived on a vessel from Rotterdam.
The smuggled cigarettes, branded ‘The King’, have an estimated value of over €11.3 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €8.9 million. Investigations are ongoing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence at the freephone number 1800 295 295.
