Joint operation results in cocaine seizure valued at approximately €500,000
On 10/09/2026, as part of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau’s (GNECB’s) Operation Skein, Revenue officers assisted by the Ballymun Drugs Unit seized approximately 5 kg of cocaine with an estimated value of €500,000 at Dublin Airport.
The illicit drugs were discovered when Revenue officers stopped and searched the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight that originated in Brazil and discovered the drugs concealed within bags of lollipops.
One male, aged in his 60s, arrested by An Garda Síochána in connection with the investigation, has since been charged. He appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ No. 4) on Friday, 11/09/2026
In follow up searches, An Garda Síochána seized €16,000 in cash and a further quantity of various controlled drugs valued at €14,500.
Investigations are ongoing.
