Carrying commercial goods in baggage

What is Merchandise In Baggage?

The importation of commercial goods in your baggage is described, for customs purposes, as Merchandise In Baggage (MIB).

These goods may be imported:

  • to free circulation from outside the European Union (EU)
  • or
  • temporarily with a view to being re-exported.

Goods commonly imported and exported as MIB include:

  • goods acquired for a company
  • goods for sale
  • spare parts
  • trade samples and so on.
