Incorrect birth registration payment

In 2022, the Government implemented a once-off payment of €3,000 to individuals whose incorrect birth registration was confirmed by or to Tusla.

The payment was intended as a contribution towards costs related to an incorrect birth registration such as DNA testing or legal fees.

This payment is exempt from Income Tax and Universal Social Charge (USC).

How to claim the exemption

The easiest and most secure way to claim this exemption is by submitting a request through myAccount or the Revenue Online Service (ROS) using myEnquiries.
