View and claim for the Home Renovation Incentive (HRI) – home owners

What is the HRI homeowner service?

This is an online service that allows you to view and to claim tax credits under the HRI for certain works done on your Principle Private Residence (PPR).

If you are a landlord, you can claim HRI tax credits in respect of your rented properties. However, you must have met your Local Property Tax (LPT) obligations to do so.

Who is the service for?

This service is suitable for you if you are a Pay As You Earn (PAYE) or a self-assessed taxpayer, and you have met your LPT obligations.

What you need to use the service

You will need the following information to use the service:

  • details of the works that have been completed
  • details of the works that you wish to claim for
  • details of any grants and compensation received in relation to these works.

How to access the HRI homeowner service

If you are accessing the service through myAccount follow these steps:

  • Sign into myAccount.
  • Click 'Home Renovation Incentive' on the 'Property Services' card.
  • Click on the 'Claims' tab to claim your tax credit after the end of the year in which work is paid for.

Please note that the Home Renovation Incentive tab will only be visible to you if you are an LPT registered customer.

If you are accessing the service through the Revenue Online Service (ROS):

  • Sign into ROS.
  • In the 'Other Services' section access the 'Home Renovation Incentive (HomeOwner) tab.
  • Click on the 'Claims' tab to claim your tax credit after the end of the year in which work is paid for.

Please note that the Home Renovation Incentive tab will only be visible to you if you are an LPT registered customer.
