Make a payment for Household Charge arrears

The Local Property Tax (LPT) online service allows you to pay your LPT or arrears of Household Charge (HHC).

Who is the Local Property Tax service for?

This service is suitable if you:

  • own a residential property in Ireland and owe HHC on that property
  • are an agent or individual, acting on behalf of the owner who owes HHC on a property. 

Information needed to make a payment for Household Charge arrears

To use this service, you will need:

  • the Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) and, or Tax Reference Number (TRN) of the person who owes HHC
  • the unique Property ID
  • the secure PIN[1].

How to access the Local Property Tax service

You can access this service through LPT online by following these steps:

  • Enter your PPSN, property ID and property PIN and click 'Login'.
  • On the home screen, select ‘Review years 2012-2021’. Then select ‘Household Charge arrears’ from the ‘Review another year’ dropdown menu. 
  • Click 'Setup Payment Method'.
  • Input all payment details and click 'Continue'.
  • Review the details to be submitted and click 'Submit Details'.

You can access the LPT service through myAccount by following these steps:

  • Click 'Local Property Tax (LPT)' on the 'Property Services' card.
  • On the home screen, select ‘Review years 2012-2021’. Then select 'Household Charge arrears' from the 'Review another year' dropdown menu.
  • Click 'Setup Payment Method'.
  • Input all payment details and click 'Continue'.
  • Review the details to be submitted and click 'Submit Details'. 

You can access this service through ROS by following these steps:

  • Click on the 'View Property List' button in the 'Local Property Tax' card.
  • Click on the 'Property ID'.
  • On the home screen, select ‘Review years 2012-2021’. Then select ‘Household Charge arrears’ from the ‘Review another year’ dropdown menu. 
  • Click 'Setup Payment Method'.
  • Input all payment details and click 'Continue'.
  • Review the details to be submitted and click 'Submit Details'.

[1] The Property ID and PIN will have been posted to the address of the person liable for LPT on the property.
