ROS – Digital Certificate Renewal reminder notices

ROS certificates issued by Revenue normally have 2-year validity, and customers must renew their certificates to retain access to ROS. All ROS certificates are linked to Revenue’s ROS Certificate Authority, and this master certificate was updated on 10 September 2016.

ROS administrators are advised that all ROS certificates issued or renewed before 10 September 2016 will expire on 11 December 2017 and must be renewed before then. In order to ensure that customers/administrators retain continued access to ROS, a series of reminder notices are being issued to customers/administrators who must renew their certificates. The first of these reminders is being sent from 6 September 2017, and further reminders will issue periodically until the ROS certificate is renewed.

If the ROS certificate is not renewed before 11 December, it will expire. If a ROS Administrator certificate expires, all sub-users will be suspended and all ROS access will cease. The ROS administrator will need to re-register, or use the ROS Reset Login option where security questions are on record. It may take several working days to regain access to ROS.

From September 2017 customers will be presented with the Certificate Renewal screen when they login to ROS. Customers should renew their certificate when presented with this opportunity to ensure continued access to ROS.

Step by step instructions are provided in the ROS Help Centre and the procedure takes less than 2 minutes to complete.

Key tip: customers are reminded to make sure that they SAVE a copy of the certificate when downloading it (please Backup your Digital Certificate).

The certificate file should be saved to a C:\ROS\RosCerts folder instead of the ‘Downloads’ folder (which may be a temporary folder that is wiped on a regular basis).
