Registered Exporters System (REX)
The REX system provides for certification of origin on imports into the European Union (EU) from certain countries under the Generalised System of Preference (GSP). It also provides for the certification of origin on preferential origin exports from the EU to Canada and Japan.
It allows a registered exporter to certify preferential origin. This is done by including a specific declaration on the invoice or another commercial document identifying the exported products.
If your consignment has a value of below €6,000, the statement of origin can be made with no obligation to be registered.
The GSP beneficiary countries will progressively apply the REX system from 1 January 2017 until the end of December 2020. For details about REX and when GSP countries are applying REX, see the Registered Exporters System.
If you are importing from a registered exporter under GSP, you should verify the REX number on the REX database.
If you require further information, you can contact the Origin and Valuation Unit.
