How to prepare your business for NCTS-P5
Customs software
The Revenue NCTS-P5 can be accessed through your own internally developed and supported customs software, or through software provided by an external systems provider. It is important to be familiar with the following:
- Content and structure of the new declarations, including the new data elements.
- New message types and code lists.
- New message numbers.
- and
- New formats for existing messages.
If you employ a customs agent to manage your customs transit formalities, you should ensure that the software your agent uses can interface with NCTS-P5.
Key message
As a trader, you should start your preparations early to be ready when NCTS-P5 goes live. You should engage with your software provider, whether internal or external. Software providers should engage with our Public Interface Test (PIT) environment as early as possible. This was made available at the end of April 2023.
