How to prepare your business for NCTS-P5

Customs software

The Revenue NCTS-P5 can be accessed through your own internally developed and supported customs software, or through software provided by an external systems provider. It is important to be familiar with:

  • the content and structure of the new declarations, including the new data elements
  • new message types and code lists
  • new message numbers
  • and
  • new formats for existing messages.

If you employ a customs agent to manage your customs transit formalities, you should ensure that the software your agent uses can interface with NCTS-P5.

Key message

As a trader, you should ensure that you are ready to use NCTS-P5 well in advance of 1 January 2025. From this date, it will no longer be possible to lodge transit declarations in NCTS-P4. You should engage with your software provider, whether internal or external. Software providers should engage with our Public Interface Test (PIT) environment as early as possible.
