Civil aviation – controls at airports and aerodromes

There are customs procedures and rules in relation to the arrival and departure of aircraft into and out of the State. You will find information about the interpretation of the legislation governing civil aviation and flight activity at Irish airports in the Civil Aviation Manual. This manual can be viewed in further guidance.

There is a permanent customs presence at larger airports in Ireland, that is Dublin, Cork and Shannon. Other smaller locations are best managed for any potential risks through risk based controls. You will find information about the national framework for the assessment of risk at small aerodromes in the Manual on Customs Control of Small Aerodromes. This manual can be viewed in Further guidance.
