Moving or returning to Ireland
If you have just moved to Ireland, or are returning from abroad, this section explains how your tax is affected.
The amount of Irish tax you pay depends on:
- your residence status
- where your income comes from
- where you carry out the duties of your trade, profession or employment.
If you are bringing your car or goods to Ireland from abroad, you may have to pay tax on them. See the Importing vehicles, duty-free allowances, reliefs and online shopping section for more information.
