Common web service specification

This section contains the documentation common to the Customs & Excise ROS web services exposed through secure SOAP and REST, including:

  • Automated Import System (AIS) – live since November 2020, including EUCDM and CCI upgrades (which is referred to as AIS V2) to go Live on 1 January 2026.
  • Automated Export System (AES) – live since March 2023, including Export Release Verification service.
  • New Computerised Transit System phase 5 (NCTS-P5) – live since February 2024.
  • Legacy web services migrated to the current SOAP specification, including Excise Movement Control System (EMCS) and Excise Duty Entry (EDE) – live since 15 September 2025.

    Note

    These services will still be accessible via the legacy method and endpoints as described in Specifications for systems to be retired page and will begin to retire in 2026.
