Public Interface Testing (PIT) specifications

Customs PIT environments are designed to provide a test platform for software developers and their customers to submit test declarations. It allows them to query a range of test Customs Revenue Online Services (ROS) Web Services.

The PIT facility is provided at two different software levels: Live and Development.

  • Live Level (https://softwaretest.ros.ie) uses the same software version as the ROS production code. This version should be used if you are developing software that will be compatible with forms and services already released live by Revenue.
  • Development Level version (https://softwaretestnextversion.ros.ie) includes new features that are still under development, and which have not yet been released to production. Please note, this is an alpha-test environment subject to occasional downtime, limited functionality, and bugs.

PIT environments are not a full-featured environment and as such some scenarios are not supported. Revenue releases updates to the PIT environments as development progresses. A list of the available Customs services, message types and available functionality can be found in the documentation below.
