Revenue seize over 64,000 cigarettes in West Dublin
On Tuesday (15/01/2019), as part of routine operations, Revenue officers from Dublin Port seized 64,100 smuggled cigarettes. The unstamped cigarettes, which originated in Moldova, were discovered in separate packages destined for an address in West Dublin.
The cigarettes, branded ‘Marlboro’, have a retail value of over €31,300, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €26,800. A Moldovan man and woman, both in their thirties, were questioned and investigations are continuing with a view to prosecution.
