Revenue seize tobacco worth over €1.24 million at Dublin Port

Yesterday (04/01/2021), as a result of routine profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Waffle, Revenue officers seized over 2 tonnes of tobacco at Dublin Port.

The smuggled tobacco was concealed in A4 boxes labelled as ‘multipurpose office paper’ which had originated in Hong Kong, and had an estimated street value of over €1.24 million representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €1 million. Investigations are ongoing.
