Revenue seize tobacco worth almost €450,000 at Dublin Port
On Saturday, 31/05/2025, as a result of risk profiling, Revenue officers seized 504.5 Kgs of tobacco at Dublin Port. The seizure was made with the assistance of Revenue’s x-ray scanner.
The smuggled tobacco, branded ‘Turner’ and ‘Golden Virginia’, was discovered in a consignment of bedframes, following the search of a truck that arrived from the UK. The tobacco has an estimated retail value of approximately €446,100, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €337,000.
The driver of the truck was arrested. He has since appeared before the courts.
Investigations are ongoing.
