Revenue seize contraband worth over €466,900 in various operations

Over the week commencing 13/10/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €466,900 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • 10.38 kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €207,700.
  • 1.6 kg of Butane Honey Oil, with an estimated value of almost €32,000.
  • 2,270 tabs of Zoplicone, with an estimated value of over €4,500.
  • Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €7,600.
  • Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €103,000, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €81,800.
  • Alcohol products with an estimated value of over €800, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €400.
  • €4,900 of cash.
  • 91 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €106,400.

Included in the tobacco products are approximately 109,380 cigarettes, which were seized Dublin Airport on Friday, 17/10/2025. The seized cigarettes had an estimated retail value of almost €98,700 with a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €78,000. Three passengers in their 20s and 30s were arrested and will appear before the courts.

The herbal cannabis and other drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara and Sam. The parcels, which originated from USA, China, the UK, Spain and India, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.

A cash seizure of €4,900 occurred in Rosslare on 17/10/25. Wexford District Court Judge John Cheatle granted an application for a 3-month detention order.

The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Thirteen weapons and pellets were also seized.

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
