Revenue seize contraband worth over €570,700 in various operations

Over the week commencing 27/10/2025, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €570,700 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • 24.5 kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of almost €489,250.
  • 627.48g of cannabis resin, with an estimated value almost of €3,770.
  • 56 tablets of MDMA, with an estimated value of over €1,000 .
  • Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €5,000.
  • Tobacco products, with an estimated value of almost €54,750, and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €41,870.
  • Over 425 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of almost €5,430, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €3,000,.
  • 39 counterfeit items with an estimated value of almost €11,500.

Included in the tobacco products are over 50,000 cigarettes, along with 5 kgs
of tobacco, following the search of a property, under warrant, in Inchicore, Dublin 12. The seized cigarettes, which included the brands John Player and Richmond, had an estimated retail value of over €52,400 with a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €40,000. A man in his 40s was questioned and investigations are ongoing.

The herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Sam and Ciara. The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Two weapons were also seized. Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
