Revenue extends Local Property Tax filing deadline for 2025

On 07/11/2025, Revenue confirmed strong engagement from property owners with thousands of Local Property Tax (LPT) returns already filed for the 2026–2030 valuation period. To assist those still preparing their returns, Revenue is extending the filing deadline to 17:30 on Wednesday, 12 November 2025.

While detailed analysis is ongoing, the provisional filing figures shows:

LPT Returns received: approximately 1.4 million properties

  • 42,202 of returns filed today as at 2pm
  • 78,418 returns yesterday (6 November)
  • 66,198 returns Wednesday (5 November)

This represents approximately 140,000 more returns filed than at the same stage in the 2022 revaluation cycle, clear evidence that there is strong momentum.

Revenue understands that the LPT revaluation and filing process can cause uncertainty for some property owners, especially as this is the first revaluation since 2021. The extended deadline aims to provide additional time to meet obligations.

Property owners are reminded that LPT is a self-assessed tax, and it is important to carefully determine the current market value of their property as of 1 November 2025 before submitting their return.

Revenue’s LPT Helpline (01 738 3626) continues to experience high demand, handling around 7,000 calls every day. Our teams are working incredibly hard to answer queries, but from on-going monitoring of the helpline we can see that about 4,000 callers have not got through this morning. In addition, we have received over 100,000 pieces of correspondence including MyEnquiries, postal queries, and paper returns which are actively being worked through. Revenue reassures property owners these will be treated as compliant, provided returns are filed promptly once queries are resolved.

To support property owners, Revenue’s LPT Helpline will operate extended opening hours in the lead-up to the new deadline:

Date

Opening Hours

Monday, 10 November

09:00 – 20:00

Tuesday, 11 November

09:00 – 20:00

Wednesday, 12 November

09:00 – 16:30

Standard opening hours (09:30 – 16:30) will resume after the extended deadline.

Property owners are encouraged to submit returns online via myAccount, ROS, or the LPT Online Portal.

Revenue appreciates that the LPT revaluation only occurs every few years and that it can affect many people who do not otherwise engage with us. We understand that some property owners may feel anxious about meeting their obligations, but we want to reassure them that we are taking a pragmatic and reasonable approach.

Revenue encourages all property owners to file as soon as they are able, particularly those wishing to pay by monthly Direct Debit or Deduction at Source, as these payment methods must be set up in advance.

Further updates and detailed LPT statistics will be published regularly on the Revenue website.
